Sacramento joined cities across the nation by celebrating its Second Annual National Hispanic Marriage Day 2009 Festival Dia Nacional del Matrimonio Hispano 2009 on Sunday, Oct 11, 2009.
 
The goal of NHMD is to remind the Hispanic-Latino community that the greatest legacy to leave our children is strong marriages and families with strong values.
 
This year we had a blast! A variety of events were held at the Hagginwood Park 3271 Marysville Blvd in Sacramento. We had activities ranging from Olympics for couples fun-filled games were couples worked together as a team to compete against other couples. We had games like “The Blind Husband”, “Joined leg obstacle race”, “Airplane Contest”, “Couple Hammer Throw” and many other fun games. We closed the event with a special honoring event.  Three Olympic-style games winner couples for first, second and third place were recognized and priced with a medals and gifts. Right after two other nominated couples in different categories were recognized as well with gifts and rounds of applause for their commitment to their marriage.
